Trong Writing Task 1 chúng ta thường được yêu cầu miêu tả và so sánh những thay đổi của dữ liệu trong các mốc thời gian khác nhau.
Để làm tốt và có thể đạt điểm cao phần thi này, ngoài những tiêu chí về ngữ pháp, cách dùng từ, phân tích và miêu tả đúng một cách mạch lạc gắn kết thì việc sử dụng từ vựng chuẩn xác và đa dạng cũng là yếu tố quan trọng. Bài này mình sẽ cung cấp cho các bạn bộ từ vựng cho từng xu hướng thay đổi cùng ví dụ, lưu ý cách dùng từ khi miêu tả.
1. Động từ và danh từ miêu tả xu hướng:
‘*’ Chỉ sử dụng improve và improvement để miêu tả về situations như economy, employment… sử dụng động từ danh từ khác khi miêu tả những con số cụ thể.
E.g.
The overall sale of the shop has increased by 20% at the end of the year.
There was a growth in the earning of the people of the town at the end of the decade.
There was an increase of the temperature of the coast are and this was probably because of the availability of the sunlight at noon.
A rise of the attendee in the morning can be observed from the line graph.
The data presents that there was an improvement of the health care between 2000 and 2005.
There was a progress in the law and order of the country during the end of the decade.
E.g.
There was a 25% drop in the workforce of the company.
There was a fall of the price of the gasoline in 2015 which was less than $10.
A decline occurred after April and the sale reached to 500 for the next quarter.
The company’s product price increased and there was a decrease of the loss it was bearing.
E.g.
By 2020 the elderly Vietnamese population is predicted to skyrocket 100% within five years.
E.g.
At this point the number of cases remained stable until 1984 before plummeting to 10 by 2000.
E.g.
There was a fluctuation of the student numbers who used bicycle during the year 2014 to 2015.
The price of the food fluctuated for the first quarter.
The graph shows the oscillations of the price of food from 2000 to 2005.
E.g.
The student numbers of the country remained almost the same as it was 5 years ago.
The data from the line graph show a stability of the number of the retail market from April till July for the given year.
As is presented in the line graph, there was a plateau of the clothe price from 2005 to 2010.

The price of gasoline reached a peak amounting $30 in January and again touched the lowest point amounting only $10 in June.
E.g.
In the end of the this week both gained remarkable recovery after a few fluctuations having around 5000 visitors.

Whereas those for Music Choice Showed a marked decline to around 15,000.

The number of car accidents was just below 100 in April which is just a little over than the previous quarter.
E.g.
A similar pattern was repeated for the Hanoi and Saigon. In each case, around 30% of holidaymakers went to restaurants with around 50% in self-catering apartments.

The number of high-level women executives is well beneath than the number of male executives in this organization where approximately 1000 people works in executive levels.
About 100 people died in the rail way accident in 2005 which is well above than the statistics of all other years.

2. Tính từ và trạng từ dùng để miêu tả xu hướng:

There was a substantial decrease in the value of stocks on April 20th.
House prices fell dramatically in January.
The number of car accident in Hanoi fell sharply in October.
The percentage of unemployment continued to rise gradually over the ten year period from 2005-2015.
There was a sharp decrease in employee turnover after the holiday.
The salary has risen steadily over the last 5 years.
